ECC-SAL International Mooting Competition
Registration deadline has been extended to 8 November 2024
The ECC-SAL International Mooting Competition, coorganised by the members of Essex Court Chambers (ECC) and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL), presents an ideal opportunity for young lawyers around the world to showcase and hone their skills as advocates.
Now in its 13th year, the Competition is open to young advocates from Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore and South Korea.
All rounds of the Competition will take place in Singapore.

DATES OF THE COMPETITION 2025
The preliminary rounds of the Competition are scheduled to take place on a round-robin basis. The remaining rounds will take place on an elimination basis, starting with the Quarter-Finals.
Preliminaries: Tuesday, 7 January 2025
Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals: Wednesday, 8 January 2025
Final round: Thursday, 9 January 2025

ELIGIBILITY
Lawyers and legal service officers who have been qualified for practice for no more than three years as at 1 January 2025 are welcome to participate.
Teams may comprise mooters from the same or different law firms and organisations, with each participating firm or organisation asked to submit no more than two teams.
A reserve list of teams will be compiled in the event that more than two teams apply from the same organisation. The organisers will consider all relevant circumstances in each jurisdiction when interpreting the eligibility criteria, and the organising committee reserves the right to exercise discretion for its decisions.
PRIZE
The winning team will be offered an all expenses paid two-week internship at Essex Court Chambers in London, one of the leading commercial sets of barristers’ chambers in England.
Awards will also be given for the Best Speaker, Best Memorandum submitted and the Best International Team.
